LG Groundworks delivers high-quality foundation solutions tailored to the specific geological conditions of your site. Whether you are building a new home, an extension, or a commercial unit, the integrity of your structure starts below ground.
We work closely with structural engineers and Building Control to ensure every trench, pile, and cage meets strict regulatory standards. Our fleet of excavators and piling rigs allows us to handle difficult access sites and varied soil types, from stable chalk to shrinkable clay.
Key Capabilities
- Strip Footings
- Trench Fill Foundations
- Mini Piling & Driven Piles
- Reinforced Concrete (RC) Rafts

Precision & Compliance
Foundations require exact tolerances. We utilize laser leveling technology and high-grade materials to ensure accuracy. All our work is carried out in strict accordance with engineer drawings and BS 8004 standards. We arrange all necessary inspections with the local authority to sign off on trench depth and reinforcement before pouring.

From Excavation to Pour
Ensuring structural integrity at every stage of the build.
Set Out & Excavate
Using laser levels, we mark out the exact footprint and excavate trenches to the depth required by soil analysis.
Piling (If Required)
For unstable ground, we install driven or bored piles to transfer loads to deeper, more stable soil strata.
Reinforcement
Installation of steel rebar cages, mesh, or heave protection (clayboard) to prevent ground movement damage.
Concrete Pour
Controlled pouring of high-strength concrete, vibrated to remove air pockets and leveled to a smooth finish.
Foundation FAQs
Piling is usually required when the ground is too weak to support a building (e.g., deep clay, made-up ground) or when excavations would be dangerously deep. It is also used near large trees to avoid root disturbance.
Yes. A Building Inspector must approve the bottom of the trench before concrete is poured. We coordinate these visits to ensure no delays in your schedule.
A strip foundation uses a thinner layer of concrete with masonry blocks built up to ground level. Trench fill involves filling the excavation almost entirely with concrete, which is faster and reduces the need for bricklayers below ground.
